Somló Wine Region

Somló Wine Region

Somló is a 435-meter-high volcanic mountain in Veszprém county, Hungary, which stands out from the plains. Its name dates back to a time when a dogwood (som in Hungarian) forest was still covering its slopes. In addition to the quality and rich taste of the Somló wine, it has become known and recognized throughout the world because it was one of the rare white wines that could be transported without damage. Thanks to its unique volcanic terrior, indigenous local varieties and state-of-the-art winemaking techniques, Somlói is once again considered one of the world's greatest. Somló wine is made exclusively from white grapes. The most widespread varieties in the wine region are Juhfark, Olaszrizling, Furmint, Hárslevelű and Tramini.

Tasting Note

Tasting Note

Almost water clean color with light yellow flashes. Intense floral and wet stone character on the nose with a hint of minerality as well. On the pa-late the acidity is medium plus with complexity in the dry aftertaste. White flowers and light salty taste give the complexity.
Irsai Olivér is a trendy, youthful, social wine. Young generations favorite because its fruitness makes it very flattering.
